EARLY MUSIC SHOWCASE | We are ecstatic to have @sd EARLY MUSIC SHOWCASE | We are ecstatic to have @sdbaroque joining us on Sunday! These are among the best early music practitioners that San Diego has to offer. San Diego Baroque worked with local students as part of our outreach program this season, and we are so grateful to them for sharing their talents and expertise with so many young aspiring musicians.
San Diego Baroque, a collaborative ensemble, includes violinists Pierre Joubert and Isaac Allen, violist Andrew Waid, cellist Alex Greenbaum and harpsichordist/organist Alison Luedecke. Each artist is an accomplished soloist in their own right and has performed extensively in San Diego and worldwide, with groups such as the Academy of Ancient Music, Mainly Mozart, Bach Collegium, The Kings NYC and the Hausmann Quartet. The ensemble was created because of the members’ enthusiasm and expertise in Baroque music and performance on period instruments.
Mark your calendars! We hope to see you on Sunday at 7pm at St. Paul's Cathedral! This event is FREE. Don't miss it!

EARLY MUSIC SHOWCASE ARTISTS | Meet Ad Hoc Baroque EARLY MUSIC SHOWCASE ARTISTS | Meet Ad Hoc Baroque!
Ad Hoc Baroque is a breakout group of amateur and professional musicians that play with the Kensington Baroque Orchestra. The core of the ensemble is a two-violin and continuo trio that was formed in 2015 to take advantage of the tremendous number of trio sonatas written for baroque instruments. Over the years we have welcomed the addition of a variety of continuo instruments such as bass, cello, viola da gamba, bassoon and harpsichord, as well as treble instruments such as recorder, lute and guitar. Anyone who has attended one of the Kensington Baroque Orchestra’s fall Chamber Concerts will be aware that there is a great deal of mixing and matching that goes on when its members form smaller groups—hence the tongue-in-cheek name for our ensemble!
Ad Hoc Baroque are Ricardo Montalvan and Kathlyn Robbins on violin, Andre Beller on bass, Ulla Sinz on recorder, Eric Dickerson on guitar, and Susan Willis-Powers on harpsichord.
>>> This event is FREE and open to everyone. See you at St Paul's Episcopal Cathedral on Sunday, June 11, at 7pm.

The San Diego Early Music Showcase is almost here! The San Diego Early Music Showcase is almost here! Meet one of our guest ensembles, the fantastic musicians of Courtly Noyse. "Long ago four people used to meet every year under a tree on top of Mount Palomar to sing madrigals. In 2003, it suddenly occurred to them that they could meet more frequently outside the context of the San Diego Early Music Society Workshop, and so they arranged to get together 'down the mountain.' They were joined by two more friends, and Courtly Noyse was born. Just like our forebears in the sixteenth century, we enjoy whiling away an evening or a Sunday afternoon with music, storytelling and jokes, and our hope is that our audience will derive as much pleasure from our collaboration as we do."
Courtly Noyse plays recorders, viola da gamba, vielle, krummhorns, cornamuse, cornetti, shawms, sacbuts, Renaissance guitar, chalumeau, hurdy gurdy, bowed psaltery, mandolin, gemshorns, rackett, and various percussion instruments (although this list is constantly growing!). We can also cast our instruments aside at the drop of a (Tudor) hat, and burst into five-part vocal harmony."
>>FREE ADMISSION. See you at St. Paul's Cathedral on Sixth Ave on Sunday 6/11 at 7pm <<

The San Diego Early Music Society is a non-profit organization founded to showcase the musical treasures of Europe’s medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods, as performed on period instruments and in accordance with historical practice. The Society was established in 1981 and has presented concerts in churches, small halls, museums, and homes — settings for which the music was composed.
