Laurent Planchon was born in Strasbourg, France, where he received a basic musical education. He went on to study electrical engineering in Grenoble and moved to the U.S.A. in 1996 (first Portland, then San Diego), where he has pursued a career in Electronic Design Automation for various companies and is now a Technical Leader at Cisco Systems.
An amateur harpsichord enthusiast, both as player and one-time kit builder, Laurent was formerly active in the San Diego Harpsichord Society and has been a board member of SDEMS since the early 2000s. In his free time he trains with his two dogs for scent work competitions.
