In a highly anticipated return to San Diego, Le Poème Harmonique, led by Vincent Dumestre and with mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik, will open the season with a program of music that would have been heard in the court of the young Louis XIV before Versailles. The ensemble will perform popular songs drawn from the group’s award-winning collections of traditional French chansons, as well as music by Moulinié, de Lalande, and Charpentier, and excerpts from the first operas performed in France by Lully and Cavalli.
