Here is a snippet of last night’s festivities! Cecilia Duarte (mezzo-soprano) and Camille Ortiz (soprano) perform “Chacona” (“A la vida bona”) from the “Dancing & feasting” portion of the programme, composed by Juan de Arañés and directed by harpsichordist and organ player Matthew
Dirst. We were mesmerized by Stephanie Noori and
Maria Lin’s playing of the baroque violin, as well as Eric Taeyang Mun on the baroque cello, Richard Savino and
his baroque guitar and theorbo, and Jesús Pacheco
Mánuel on percussion.

After a two-year postponement, the Grammy-nominated American ensemble Ars Lyrica Houston will make its San Diego debut! Their program “Crossing Borders” explores the intermingling of the 17th- and 18th-century colonial and indigenous musical cultures in the regions now known as Latin America.
